Glad tidings and warmest regards! We have finally reached the end of 2020…and boy has it been wackadoo. The end of the year always comes with a mix of joy & merriment with collective grief, loss, and general exhaustion. Music has always been a necessary part of my life, especially during the hectic times, and I’m extra aware of and thankful for music in my life this year. Even something as trivial as playlist-making can be a form of creative catharsis.
So, without further ado, let me present to you: Bless & Release (a.k.a. Okieee byeee)
I didn’t include any classic holiday tunes in this playlist because sometimes you need some “normal” music amidst all the holly jollies. (Side note: I LOVE the Christmas season, and am definitely listening to my fair share of carols.) This playlist is the perfect soundtrack to say good riddance to 2020, bake cookies, and hide from the Zoom calls. It’s short and sweet (unlike this year) and is all over the place (much like this year).
What you can expect:
- A few throwbacks circa 1968
- My new theme song (comment your guess which it is!)
- A spoonful of commiseration
- A dash of hope
- A generous serving of hairbrush-microphone worthy lyrics
